The TRAPPER Crayfish Trap |
|
The proud owner of Trapper Arne with one of his manufactured traps, the TRAPPER. When not busy building more traps in his shop, Trapper Arne is most likely found up north by one of the crayfish lakes. This is also where he sometimes find his best customers, those who have seen others catch crayfish and wants to do the same.
Before a trap design is modified, the trap goes through tests in one of the many nearby lakes to make sure the modification works as planned and makes it a better trap.
Measurements: length: 18"- diam: 9.5" - weight: 1 lb 6 Oz. - Mesh size: 1/2" - trap entrance 2".

Here is a TRAPPER crayfish trap with its cardboard box ready for shipping. The box fits the traps exactly so there will be no room for movement during shipment. Of course, there still is space inside for a crayfish pamphlet and instructions for how to prepare a trap for fishing.
Most orders are shipped using US Postal Service Priority mail which will bring the traps to customers in two or three days.
This picture shows clearly the entry ring into the trap which holds the escape stopper. Although the most productive method is to leave traps in only about four hours, the escape stopper makes it possible to leave traps in for the whole night without losing much of the catch. Leaving the traps in for the night also seems to catch bigger crayfish. But be sure to empty the traps before daylight makes the crayfish too restless and begin to look for the exit.

Another view of the TRAPPER. You can here clearly see the nylon cords that hold the funnels pointing into the trap, welcoming the crayfish to the bait in the middle.
The TRAPPER is light weight yet very sturdy and flexible to stand lots of hard use while catching plenty of crayfish. My oldest TRAPPERS are still going strong after many years of hard work in many lakes. They are amazingly hardy in spite of frequent usage. Yet there is an ongoing effort to improve on the traps each time a new production batch is started.

A closeup view of the TRAPPER. Note the heavy duty fish netting that forms the entry tunnel leading into the trap. The white ring at the end of the tunnel has an escape stopper attached. (Not visible in this picture)
To the right you can see the open bait lid and the bungee that keeps it closed. Several users have praised the ease by which you can bait and empty this trap of its catch.
