This great and productive crayfish trap will keep you in crayfish for years to come.

The Trapper Arne Inventory

The top shelf of the Trapper Arne inventory displays some of these large, productive JUMBO traps. The JUMBO trap looks just like its smaller cousin, the Trapper, but it can hold twice as many crayfish inside. Built with sturdier wire, it is also surprisingly rugged. Like the Trapper, the JUMBO is equipped with effective escape stoppers, making this trap a good candidate for overnight sessions. Thanks to its size, this trap is best suited for lakes where the crayfish population is high. Below the shelf with JUMBO traps, you will also see the popular TRAPPER and several JACKPOT traps together with a few discontinued BLUEBOYS. Hanging from the edge of a shelf are several DIPPER traps.

When used in an unusually well populated lake, Trapper Arne once had difficulty lifting the trap into his boat. It was that full of crayfish.

The Jumbo crayfish trap The JUMBO trap is made from vinyl covered hardware cloth upon a frame of heavy gauge wire at each end and an equally sturdy center post with a bait clip. At each end is a net funnel leading into the trap. At the small end of each funnel is an effective escape stopper, making it hard for the catch to escape during an all-night session.

The JUMBO trap is a light weight trap but it quickly sinks to find its place on the bottom of the lake. A handy opening for baiting and emptying the trap of its catch is positioned in the middle of the long side of the trap, kept closed with a bungee.

Measurements: length: 24" - diam: 11.5" - weight: 2 lb. 2 Oz. - Mesh size: 1/2" - trap entrance 2".

Here is a comparison shot of two JUMBO traps together with the TRAPPER and the discontinued BLUEBOY traps. Notice the difference in size between the TRAPPER and the JUMBO. The JUMBO is actually about twice the size of the Trapper in volume making the JUMBO perfect for those lakes with large crayfish populations. In vivid contrast in the back is the BLUEBOY trap which is larger than the TRAPPER but smaller than the JUMBO.

comparing the Trapper and the Jumbo traps Measuring the radius and length of the two traps and applying the old volume math formula you will find that the JUMBO holds just about twice what the Trapper does.
For lakes with a modest amount of crayfish, the JUMBO trap is unnecessarily large. The Trapper is the trap to use with modest crayfish populations.

A close-up of the JUMBO A close-up of the JUMBO trap shows both the bait opening and the escape stopper at the small end of an entry funnel.

Although the JUMBO holds twice as much as the TRAPPER, it only looks somewhat larger in size.
